I am currently in love with the phrase "Jangling thicket of bones" in Peter's new song, "Charlie" So...y'all...what are your favorite lyrical phrases from Peter's songs?

She must have missed the road sign that said, "From now on nothing will be clear". Nothing will be clear.

I love that line so much. It owns me.

His newest batch of songs are ripe with amazing lines:
  • I'm weak as a kitten, I'm dirty as a mitten in a winter street - Thirty
  • Years go rollin', you're 33, it's time for the cross or the bodhi tree, but you like to cry when you skin your knee, man it's hard. - Shirt
  • The stores are full of nothing, the streets are full of fear, and we are all so damn connected but we can't seem to get near - 29 Cent Head
  • I seldom dream, not since that that night. - Rise
Yowza.

hmmm...

probably something from "rise", most likely "it was then, i saw the light, and felt the air, go rushing past. these things are fixed, now in my sight. your face, the fire, the flying glass". that "shirt", and "words too small to say" are among my favourite peter songs, if anyone is interested.

so many words, so little time
"you have carried your scars this far because you love them" "a questions mark is, it's a little wavy line above a dot..." "driving the first nail into this corner of my life" "this is the love that I am always just this side of bringing to you" "you have the time to ask the questions, then you walk out on the answers" "there's a reason why you cannot see why any of this is funny" "everytime I needed it, the magic always found me" "hey dad, can I have the keys to the kingdom? I'll give 'em back before too long." "the moon is the only light, in the silence you can hear it turning" "you can't lose what you never had" "every day there's just more junk up on my shelf" "they fall like rain and they touch like hands" "all that is hunting you down recedes to the sound of a dull roar" "the tree from your childhood is thinking about you; it shivers a sigh" "give my love to the lost, sell my worries in pairs" "leave my kisses in the dust by the side of the road" "the street that you live on is brush strokes on canvas" "she's wearing a frown borrowed from her father" "on the way out, we shed our certainties like clothes" "love will never listen to us and why should it. Love knows the score" "we're walking home but you can't go there unless it wants you"

Cant pick a favorite...
but "I could tell you loved me when you threw my bills across the kitchen and slamed the bathroom door." "I read my books, by candle light, I sit to prary, I love my wife... Come to take away what I've begun." and "On the way up, I just knew the night before I'd been good and true, honest and brave... and over you" Would have to be at the top of the list.

The latter has great personal meaning to me.

Lyrics to Denver 6am
Does anyone know what the complete lyrics are to Denver 6am? i'm in the process of figuring out the tune, but I can't really make out some of the words on a copy of a show I have. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

Old post, is anyone still listening? "Out here when you light a smoke on the porch, you can hear the paper burning." Funny thing is, I'm not a smoker. But Peter has a talent for capturing a seemingly indescribable moment with a phrase.
